Dental implants replace lost teeth. Implants are medical grade titanium posts or screw-like structures that are surgically placed into the jawbone where a tooth or teeth are missing. The bone will bond with the implant and create a strong foundation for artificial teeth

What are Dental Implants?

To get a consultation to be considered for implant dentistry, contact our office to schedule an appointment!

First, to be considered for implant dentistry, you would need to undergo a dental exam with radiographs and a thorough health history. During this consultation, your specific needs will be addressed and a treatment plan will be established.

The implant will be placed within your jaw bone by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon referred by our practice. About 3-6 months following surgery, the implant will be bonding within the jawbone.

The surgeon will uncover the implant and attach a healing cap during the second phase. Once this occurs, your restorative dentist at Ankeny Dental Center will then start making your new tooth or teeth.

An impression must be taken so that the replacement tooth can be made onto an attachment that will connect to the implant.

The entire process usually takes about 6-8 months.
